Yang Jun holds a masters in economics. He was previously the general manager for risk management and also for operations at the Shanghai branch of the Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, and deputy general manager of credit approval at the bank's Shanghai credit approval office. He was previously also the chief risk officer at Lufax Holding and the deputy chief risk officer at Ping An Insurance. In recent years, he has focused on theoretical studies and practical research into fintech. He is the author of One is Mature, One is Naive: The Marriage of Finance and Internet (《一面成熟,一面天真—— 金融与互联网的融合之道》) and The New Age of Financial Management: Theory and Practice for Investors (《资管新时代——投资者适当性理论与实践》).

Chinese author and fintech researcher Yang Jun says that while the fintech industry has been booming over the past few years, not everybody seems to know that it is really about using technology to complement finance, which remains the foundation. Knowing this distinction will help one better understand the current push to impose regulations on the sector.
