Zhang Weiqi

Zhang Weiqi is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Finance, National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School. Weiqi’s research interest includes FinTech and financial data analytics, big data and machine learning applications in finance, empirical asset pricing, asset allocation and portfolio management, risk management, and personal finance. Her research has been published in leading academic journals, including the Management Science. Weiqi received her PhD in Finance from NUS Business School and Bachelor in Computing (with Honors) from NUS. She is also a CFA Charterholder.

Alibaba’s Hong Kong listing: Why now? Why Hong Kong?

In a record listing of 2019, Alibaba’s stock price in Hong Kong rose by 6.6% during its first day of trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Doing so in the midst of uncertainty in Hong Kong seems risky, but Alibaba’s gambit to reach investors in Asia may just pay off in the long run.
