Minister for Education and Minister-in-charge of the Public Service, Republic of Singapore

Chan Chun Sing is Singapore's Minister for Education. He was previously Minister for Trade and Industry, responsible for driving Singapore's economic and industrial development. He is also Minister-in-charge of the Public Service and the deputy chairman of the People's Association. Mr Chan was secretary-general of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and also served as Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, upon relinquishing his prior appointments as Minister for Social and Family Development (MSF) and Second Minister for Defence.

Minister Chan Chun Sing on Singapore-China relations: Mutual trust is vital to navigate a changing world

Singapore Minister for Education and Minister-in-charge of the Public Service Chan Chun Sing gave the keynote address during the 9th Singapore-China Forum on Leadership in Beijing on 12 September 2023. Minister Chan noted the importance of taking stock and exchanging notes on how countries’ approaches to governance must evolve as both the internal and external environment change, and stressed that facing the new challenges of the modern world requires cohesive leaders who work well together, not only within the government and with the people, but also with businesses and globally with international partners. Chan Chun Sing: Singapore amid great power rivalry

Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing gave the speech titled "Singapore amid Great Power Rivalry" at the International Institute for Strategic Studies Fullerton Lecture on 9 November 2021. He said countries around the world possess some agency even amid great power competition, and Singapore can work together with like-minded partners to help build a better world. And while the US and China might feel their differences sharply, there could be more common interests between them than they would probably want to acknowledge, as both countries share a single global system and biosphere with the rest of the world. Connecting the world: Role of China and Singapore

Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing spoke on the digital economy, China's connectivity, and the role of China and Singapore in this moment in history, at the Singapore-China Forum which was held in Shanghai on 6 November 2019.
