Zheng Yongnian is Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Science and Director of the Advanced Institute of Global and Contemporary China Studies of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen). He was the former director of the East Asian Institute at the National University of Singapore. He is an expert on China's transformation and its external relations and has contributed papers to various journals such as Comparative Political Studies, Political Science Quarterly, Third World Quarterly and China Quarterly. In addition, he is also a long-time columnist for Xinbao (Hong Kong) and Lianhe Zaobao (Singapore) and has written numerous commentaries on China's domestic and international affairs.
