Liu Tao is an assistant professor at the College of Urban and Environmental Sciences and a core member of the Center for Urban Future Research at Peking University. He obtained his PhD from the University of Hong Kong and published the monograph “China's Urban Construction Land Development: State, Market, and Peasantry in Action” (2020). His research interests include urbanisation, migration, urban land use, and metropolitan governance.

Longer commute for Beijingers may spell higher depression risks

A recent study on 1,528 Beijing residents finds that every ten more minutes spent travelling from home to the workplace leads to a 1.1% higher risk of depression. How would improving people's journey-to-work experience help policymakers and employers?
