Postdoctoral Scholar, University of Pennsylvania
Benjamin Lira Luttges is a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and a Penn AI fellow. His research examines how human-AI systems can enhance long-term human capabilities, rather than just momentary performance. He builds state-of-the-art AI systems and then leverages psychological theory to understand the causal mechanisms that underlie why AI tools sometimes enhance and sometimes erode capabilities. He relies on practitioners and partners with organisations to evaluate them in the real world. His work has been published in Science Advances, Nature Scientific Reports and Harvard Business Review.
